BLOGGIN' in PARIS - 12th of SEPTEMBER 2011 Read More/Less
As I was performing at a private event on Friday night in Paris, I was planning on finishing my set early then head 2 the 'Jazz a la Vilette' festival where ?UESTLOVE curated a show on the journey of African funk and Soul music and its influence on modern music.
The Roots drummer selected tracks that we're played by the Afro-Pick’s band which featured Tony Allen on the drums. Other contributors included fellow Roots member Black Thought, Macy Gray, Amp Fiddler and the cast of Fela! the Broadway music.
A great initiative by the Red Bull music academy, but unfortunately by the time I finished my set, the concert was over ... heading back to my hotel I was kind of disappointed that I had missed the show and didn't get to see all these amazing artists share the stage, I tried to reach Amp Fiddler and his manager to check if he would still be in the city the next day, and luckily I soon hooked up with Amp Fiddler & his beautiful girlfriend to show them around Paris (ok, so I got some cool adresses from my friends there (U kno who U R thx;) we ended up at my friends Alfred Bernardin's place Renoma Cafe (When Prince wanted to play at Le Grand Palais in 2010, he made it happen and he was the tour manager for Prince when I had the oppertunity to work with him organising the aftershows) and yes we did what we always do, have fun, talk about music, future plan's, ...
